Lydia Egbert was the daughter of Daniel Egbert and Sarah Harris. She lived in Milton, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania. Lydia Egbert’s father had died in 1850, and although he had had nine siblings in all, at the time these letters were written she only had four remaining: two brothers named Reese Harris Egbert and Daniel and two sisters named Elizabeth and Sarah.
