Winchester April 16th 1863
Dear Mother
As we ware paid
off to day i though i would
write a few lines and send you
some money we get 6 months pay
wich was $78.800 a piece i will send
$70 & Jack 60 to [miller?] with Sergt J.H
Sheads if his furlow is approved he
is waiting on it now it took nearly
$100.000 to pay off our Reg
wich was a very nice sum the Boys
are Buisy setling up thare Dets
they have in Camp and writing
and fix ing up to send thare
money home the money that is
sent home from this Comp will
be over $3.000 i think then the
poor women Can live again i think
if they would leave Comp F go home
for a month they would set the

Copper heads strate while we was
thare any i think some of thare
houses would come down for
we would rather meet the real
Rebles for they are more honorable
than the Copper heads they have very
few friends here in our comp
you Can hear the men Cursing
them every day and especaly when
on Piquet Duty i have been [looking?]
fer a letter from you fer some
time as i have had none this mont
yet and i think Dan has forget
to write Pery Long got here this evening
I supose John Ziegler will be here
Tomorrow as his time is up i expect
some letter by him we are both well
i will send a ring for Anna
thare was one letter forget to
be put on so god by love
to all the famly from your
