Brother it is with Pleasure
That I Take my pen in hand to inform
You That we are all midling Stout at
Present Time hoping that theas few Lines
Will find You all well I Received
Your Letter on the 12th and I was Glad to
hear from You all and that You are all
well I Do Not feel Quite as stout as I
might for I Catched a Bad Cold But I
Thinke that I will be over it for I am
Getting Some Better Now But I
am A Litle week But I Cann Lay
in my tent and bed Contented we are
moved to virginia Now for the Last 3 or
4 Days all our men are moveing on to the

unto the Secesions our men are Sur=
Roundding them in virginia I think
There will Be A fight Now Soon
we will Give them what they Dont
Expect we will Give them A Good
Thrashing one of theas Days for we have
Them Surrounded Now and have more
men than they have we have A Bout
Two hundred and 75 Thousand men
A Cross the River in Virginia
Now You Could Never See the End
of our sodiers here we Can whip
Them Easy Now I think after one
Good Battle it will Be all settled
It is and awful sight to Se when the
Houses and farms that the Secesions
Left They have Left Every thing that
They has and Fields of Corn that
haint Been husked and our men
Taks Corn and ots stock and tare
Doun the houses and Barns Distroying
Every thing that we Come A Cross
Tare Every thing up for then it Looks
hard to See Every thing Tore up and

would Do the Same with us if
they would Get the Chance

Brother Joseph Lanzty You was asking
me for and order on henry Nutter
I will Give it to You But I want
You to Take store Goods as well as money
So if You want Store Goods You Can
Get it there as well as Enny plase
Else and Gust as Cheap as You Can
Get it in Carrill Toun So You Can
ask him for Some money to But if
You Do Not Nead it why Take as
much store Goods as You
Can I Cant Say Say how much
he owes me But if You Go there he

To A Close for this time
So Do Not for Get to
Write to me and tell me
how Father and mother is and
if they Do think of there Son and
if they Do fret Enny if they Do Tell
Them Not to for I Do think that
God will Bring me Safe to You all
for I Do Not forget to
Pray to God to Keep me Safe and Bring
me home A Gain So Good By
