Dear Brother may the 9th
I now take my
pen in hand to inform you that
I am well at pesent time and hope
that theas few lines may find you all
well and Enjoying the Sam blessing
I Recived A Letter from Augustine
[Eckmode?] this day and one from Philip
Grey and I thought that I would have
got A Letter from you, but I hope that
I will Soon get one Soon So I can
hear if you got my [money?] or not

there is not much news at this
time more then this war is coming
to A close fast for I think that the
C. S. A. will Soon come to there last
[Pick?] for we all Expect that general
McClellen will Soon be in Richmond
and that is not the worst but that
the Rebels are getting whiped So bad
that there armmy is getting Disharted
and there own men is Laying doun
there arms and Say that they wont
fight Enny more and there generals
knows that they are getting whiped and
that they will hafto give up for our
army has them surounded and they
cant get much provision Eny more
and So they will soon hafto give up
if all goes right we will have them
all whiped in two or three month
and then we will all come home if
god Spares my Life So Long we have
A good lot of Picket Duty to do we

was on picket Night before last and
we will hafto goon in A few days
A gain but it is not hard duty for
it is getting warm Now and So we
can Stand it Easy the weather is
getting very hot now the woods is
Nice and green now and the fruit
trees are in full bloom Now it Looks
Nice to see the Nice green trees Leav
for the soldiers to lay under in the shade
we have not much to do ondly once
and A while to day we had A
Company Drill and Regimental
Drill for the first time since we came
to camp Falmouth we are close to
the Rappohannock River and
Fredericksburgh where the stars and
Stripes was raised on the court house
yestrday morning By our men
our Cavalry have been out several
miles beyond Frederickburgh and
had A small skrimsh with them

but Our men joined the fight and
Drove them Back we do not know
how Soon we will leave this plase
the day we was on Picket we could
hear heavy cannondeing to wards
york town and I think that it was
genral [M??????] he is ondly A Bout
30 mils of from Richmond, and he
is Still following them and he is determind
to whip them Right off he has A bout
2 hundred thousand men with him
and so I think he can Brake through
to Whip them So I will close by telling you
that Michel skellys is Sick and is in
th hospital now so I will close in
hopes that I will Soon hear from you
so nothing more at this time but I Remain
