Camp Opposite Federicksburgh Va June the 8 [???]
1862
Dear Brother and Brother in law I now
tak my pen in hand to inform you all that I am
well at pesent time and hope that theas few Lines may
find you all well and Engoying the Same blessing &
the weather is very warm I Received your Letter and
Dans and I was glad to hear from you all Once
more we all Expect to be paid Some of theas days
and I will send you some more money I cant tell but
what I will send it in a Letter and i might Send
it to A. A. Baskin but I will write and Let you
Know all a bout it when I Send it and I want
you to pay on my Land all the you can and if
I do not get home you can do with it what you
pleas but I want a good share to a church and
Save some for your trouble if I might not get home
but I hope that I may get home at Least I hope so but
god ondly nows whoes Lot it may be to fall but what Ever
comes I am Saddisfied for I pray to god Every day
and I hope that you all at home do the Same for me
and I do pray for you all I do not get to church any
Time Last summer for there is no Prist a bout hear
as I can find out but there is what they call a
chaplain in our Regt but I do not care for him
for he is a methodist and so I have Just quit all
my [oncearing?] and am pepareing my self to die but I

chirstmass for I think one more Large battle will
bring this war to a close for the Rebel army
is all going home and coming to our side it is
Reported in yestersdays paper that there had 50 thousand
Left Beauroguards army and was coming to our side
McClellen is that close to Richmond that thy can see
the steaple on the capital and they had a Large
battle ther Last week thre was a bout 15 hundred Killed
on our side and 25 hundred wounded and the Rebels
Lost we do not now yet but I think Richmond
will be ours soon for McClellen has a Large force
thre he has a bout one hundred and twenty five
thousand troops and we Expect to go to Join him
to day or to morrow but it will take us a week to
get there it is ondly Reported in camp but we are
under marching orders now and the Col. Told us
not to Go far from camp for fear we march if we
go we will go by Rail Road and watter we are
Still Lying on the opposite sid of Fredericksburg
and the River Raised so it washed all of our
birges a way and now we hafto build Some more
the steam Boats can come up this River to Fredericksbu
it is called th Rappahannock River So I think this
Letter must do you and Dan for this time for I have
got some more Letters to answer to day when you write
tell me if you got my blanket that I sent to mothers
so nothing more at this time but I Remain your Brother

yes I all most for got if my wach is
broke take hir to Ebensburgh and get hir fixed
at C. T. Roberts. and if you do not want to
carry hir Lay hir in my trunk and Keep it safe
and if my wacth is dirty get hir Clened at
C T Robirts for he is th best wach maker
in Ebensburgh

I sent you [100?] papers a few days ago

the Rest of the boys are all well Except Michel
Skelly is in th hospital

we have good watter in this camp

tell Johny that I have not forgotton him yet
