my Dear and Loving wife
Lousia Cauler it is with
the greatest of pleasure
I Take my pen in
hand to informe you
thes few lines to Let
you know how i am
gitting along pretty
well at preasent and
I hope that theis few
Lines may find you
in the Same state
of health and father [1]
i am going to Let
you know that we are
expecting rain to day
it looks very mutch

Lick their was A wounded
solger came in our camp on
sundy Last and he had
bein in the first bull
run fight and he got
wounded 3 times and he
[or?] his discharge and
he then went fore
a substitute and by
martching it got
soar againe and he could
not helpe himself and
[i?] staid with him
the hole night and
gave him his medicin
I had to give him
drops evry half hour
the hole night and
the next day he was send
to the hospital

know That I am not
very well at preasent
but I hope That theis
few Lines may you
injoying better health
Then me I have beign
at The dockters to
get some medicion
and he gav me some
and it operated very

I will get better again
in A few days
we are still at The
[same?] old place we expect

dont get rain prety
soon the people cant
stant it down hear
the heat is so great
that we half to walk
about and hunt the
Coolest places we can find
we have no shade trees
down hear when we
came to this place
their was some but we
cut them down as
fast as we Could for
fire wood but we
rather expect to move
our qarters prety soon
we expect to get back
to our old pennsylvania
again they want us

again where he had
beign and the rebels

soon put them where

that we have plenty
to eat and if we
