Samuel Y. Cauler (b. ca. 1842) was a farm laborer from Caernarvan Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He served as a private in Company C, 107th Pennsylvania Infantry. At the time of the 1860 Federal Census, he was living in the household of William Hammons and was employed as a farm laborer. He future wife, Louisa, was also living in the same household and was employed as a domestic. In 1870, Samuel and Louisa were living on their own property in Caernarvon with their three young children, Nora, William, and Valina. The family name was also spelled Caller and Cauller.
