My Dear wife I This
Day Take the oppertunity
of writing you A Line
To Let you know that
I am very well at preset
and i hope that this
Few Lines may find you
enjoying good health I was
very sory to hear that you
wer not well when you
wrote the Last Letter
but I hope that you will
be better when you get
this Letter and father I
am going to Let you
know that you wanted
me to Let you know
what we hav got to eat
we have got prety plenty
to eat but it is not

Like at home yet
we have hard tack and
pork and bread and
beans and mackerall and
Codfish and fresh beef and
potatos and onions and
readbeets but we aint
got it Like at home
and i want you to Send
me a box of somthing
to eat some time ore
other and send me a pair
of gloves as soon as you
can get them and if
you get very sick Let
me know it and i can
get A furlow and come
home but you must
be prety bad and you
cant make it A Little
wers then it is because
the agutend reads the Letter

my old companions came
to see me and we went
to a oyster saloon and
he treated to a stew of
oysters and some Cakes
