Biography: 

James S. Jones (b. ca. 1843) was from Livingston County, New York . He mustered into service as private in Co. G, 136th New York Infantry on September 25, 1862. He was wounded in action, May 25, 1864, near Dallas, Ga.; and mustered out as private, May 13, 1865, at Nashville, Tenn. His regiment lost 2 Officers and 71 Enlisted men killed and mortally wounded and 1 Officer and 91 Enlisted men by disease during service.
