Dear aunt Loulie

I recieve your welcome
visitor yesterday and I can Say
that it afforded me as much
pleasure to peruse its contents as
any letter I have read since I
have been in camp and do most
Sincerely wish that you had
time to correspond regular but
I know you have not. You Said
in your sweet Epistle that I was
one of those whom you considered
near and deat to you. for this
I thank you; for it is a source
of pleasure to one to know that
they still hold a place on memories
pages among the loved ones at home
and I hardly think that I shall

ever forget this letter. Aunt
Loulie you must excuse Shortness
this time for I am now on
my post Standing guard &
you know I have to keep a look
out I am sorry cousin Lelia
is so sick. The Col speaks of
sending this regiment home
untill they get well; I think
that he aught to that is if he
has any regard to the health of
those that are well; for there
is only twenty of our company
well enough for duty& that
throws most the rest that are
well on guard twice or three
times a week and that is enough
to make us sick. I think there
was fifty reported sick in
our company this morning
they all have the measles &
besides standing guard we have
to set up with the Sick but
say nothing about this to mother
for she would be uneasy

We sent one corps from our
Company yesterday a young Mr
Cook I hope you will excuse
all for I have no place to
write standing guard. I will
be at home next friday night
or Saturday morning to see the ones
I love so well around the ville
Believe me as eve your sincere
