Dear Sister
Your very
welcomed and interesting Epistle was received
a day or two ago and I now attempt
to answer,I have no news Local to com
municate that would be of much to
interst to you, Our reg ement was orderd
from Eandolf as you are aware, to
this point and was assigned the position
of advance Guards but it seems that
will be left in the rear, Gen Pillow
is taking 15000 men to Misoura to help
Gov Jackson, and 7 of those regements
have already gone, there was two regiments
left Randolph Yesterday came by here
there was also a regement of Cavalry from

that Point, Our Col & over half of
the officers in Command told Gen
Pillow that they would resign if
they were allowed to remain here
two weeks, he told them we might be
removed from this place probably
in three days provided he could
get a regiment to take our place
in that length of time. gave them his
Honor as a Commanding officer that we
Should be in misoura inside of ten
days at any rate, so you see I will
get up where ther is a better prospect
of a fight, and I am pleased to
have the privalege of going some where
where there is more ex citement than
here, I would like to have been in the
Great battle at Manassas wasnt that
a Glorius victery, I have bought
every paper that I could find to
here all of the particulars of the
fight but cant here any thing of Col
Falkners regiment, Should like to
hear from Theo in some way. I shou
dent be supprised if e was there
for he was under Johnston, and
he was the mand that was in

Command in the hottest of the
fight and most of the Casualty
was of his Command, I havent heard
from Theo since the 30 June, Sis
got a letter of that date rom
him when I was at Oakland
dont know whether Cousins Cl[em?]
& Sam Blacks regiment had got
too manassas before the fight or not
Sis it is getting so late that I
will have to close, and the Gent
that I intend to send it to Memphis
by is waiting on it write to me
and direct to this point and
it will be forwarded to me
my love to Mr Clark Kiss all
of my little eices & nephews for
me and believe me s ever
