Dear sis I reseaved your kind
letter yestidy and I was truly glad to hear from
you I assure you that its contents wair well
purrused nothing affords me mow pleas-
-ure than to reseave a letter from a absent
sister sis I havent any nuse of Intrest to
wirte only the move of the army which
you have heard befow now I am in hops
the move will be succesful though I have
my doubts about the sucess of the move our
army air deserting by squads of 20. & 30. a night
though I am in hops the infentry is not
deserting I havent seen them sence they
crost the River befow they crost the
river they wair in fine sperrits sis I
had rather bee shot dead dead a thousand
times than to desert I dont think you
may apprehend any danger of any of your
relations ever deserting the army

Sis a nough about the army I reseived a
letter from sis F & H. [1] a fue days a go they wair
all well they speak of staying four months
longer I think they treated you verry bad
leaving you at the time they left I am ancti
ous for this cruel war to end though I
cant see any chance for it to end in less
time than three years longer and in that
time we will all bee Killed or cripled
for life sis I havent heard from my papers
sence they started to richman I dont loock
for them the army is moving and has
bin moving evry sence they left purhaps
I will get a furlow and com home soon
I cant tel you wanted to know whether Jim
and myself needed any cloths or not I nead
two shirts pants Coat vest socks Jim neads
the same we want out Coats made hunt
ing shirt fashion dont make my pants
and coat until you hear from me agin
mother made my pants too tite in the
legs I must close kiss the children for me remem
