Biography: 

Theodore W. Buford (b. TN ca. 1837) was the brother of Louisa L. Clark. He enlisted as a private in Co. D, 2nd Mississippi Infantry in May 1861. He was wounded at the Battle of Antietam on September 17, 1862 and discharged because of his wounds in April 1863. In August 1863, he raised his own company, “Captain Buford’s Company of Mounted Men” (also known as the Attala Cavalry). T. W. Buford is sometimes listed as Thomas W. Buford in his military records for his service in the 11th Miss. Cav.  He was paroled at Granada, Miss. on May 18, 1865.
