Dear wife I again avail myself
of the opertunity of writing you
a few lines to inform you that
I am well at present hoping
that these few lines may find
you the same I will say to
you that we hav had a great
deel of hard fighting during
the last Month We had a
great fight at Manassas and
whiped the yankeys like thunder
and drove them out of va and
into Maryaland and captured
Harpers Ferry and 12 thousand
prisnors besides a larg ammount
of comma sarrys stores but
we had the hardest fight in
Maryaland that has been
faught during the war over

now I will give you
a list of the names that
has been killed out of my
co there was Charley vinson
and william Borum
and Maurice
these got killed at Manassas
now I will give you the names
of the men that was killed
in Maryaland }
Joseph . Roberts
Amous . Howard
Sisaro . Havel
it the ballance is all wounded
except 4 I got one bullett shot
though my pants but never
hurt me I waunt you to send
old man Harvel Howards wife
word a bout the death of his
sone and her Husband

well I cant give you
a full History now
I have not got time nor
paper news reached here
this morning that our
Army got badly whiped
at corrinth I want you to
write to me and tell me whether
Jeff or Hueston was wounded
in the fight or not
Lisy I want to see you and
the children the worst you
ever saw but I cant teell
when I will get a oppertunity
to come home I dont want
you to let the children
forget me you must write

there is one thing that
I forgot to tell you that
is that I am detailed here
to wait upon the sick at
winchester now dear
mother a word to you
I do not consider it nessary
to write any more a bout fight
as you will learn form
Liseys leter the particulars
william has not been with
us but about 3 days in 3 months
he cam to us after we left
richmond and staid with
us 3 days he was taken sick
and they paid him his money
and sent him back to Richmon
