Biography: 

Nehemiah Atwood (b. ca. 1834) was a Page County, Virginia farm laborer. He enlisted as a private in Co. K, 10th Virginia Infantry on June 2, 1861 and was wounded at the Battle of Cedar Run on August 9, 1862. Atwood is listed as absent wounded until the end of 1863. He eventually rejoined his regiment and was paroled at Winchester, Virginia on May 1, 1865. By 1870, Nehemiah Atwood was married with two small children and working his own small farm.
