Biography: 

Jacob P. Moomaw (b. ca.1838) was from Bedford County, Virginia. He mustered into service as a private in the “Piedmont Rifles,” Co. D, 28th Virginia Infantry on May 22, 1861. By the time of the 1870 Census, Jacob and his wife Mary (b. VA ca. 1842) had relocated to Colfax County, Nebraska and were parents of two small children.
