Charles Citty county
Dear Mother and pap
it is with grate plasure
that i imbrace this pleasant
oppotunity of sending you [???]
few lines in witch i will in form
you that i am well at [presant?]
and i hope these few lines may
reach you in due tim and find
you and all the family in Joying
the same good blessing, i have no
news worth relating to you at this
time only we are faring very well
now for we can by plenty of fish
and milk down here, we give 50 cts for 1
hickery shad and we give $7 per canteen
for butter milk, but i have the
advantage of the other boys for i
have goten a corispondance, and
that is the way that i get

plenty of milk and other articles
that are in the eating line for
nothing, and there is where in i get
ahead of the other boys, and they
say that i am a soon [1] chap because
i can cut them out so fast for
whear ever i go the girls are shore
to fall in love with me, but i
can tell them fine tails and soon
satisfy them, i have no more to
rite about them at presant
Dear mother i rote word to you in
my other letter that we expected to
got to king and queen county but we
did not go for thay are about to send
a big reinforcement to our Battalion
and by th[??] means we expect
to stay down here all the
summer if not all next winter
for i see no prospict of
any movements in camp

tell papa to try and get me a
nother horse as soon as he can
and bring him down to me for our
pay roles are made off and we will
get the money now verry soon and
i can help him to pay for one
Charley is well and in good order for
we go down on James river to graze
our horses whare the clover is nee
high and we see fine fun down there
when we go but the last time we had
to doublequick to get in camp our
of the rain and Just as we got in 50
yards of camp the rain come down
about right i have not more to
rite at presant time [????????]
to [????] for i am now at the
guard hous acting oncomision
oficer and there fore i have not
got time to rite any mor at [presant?]

Mother tell grandaddy that
Joe is well and sends his love
to his mother and all the family
and says he would be glad to see
them Dear Mother and papa and
brothers and sisters i send you all
my best love and wish you well
give my love to Eliza and tell
her that i am well in good spirits
and give my love to sally and tell
her that it is leap year and she must
spruse up and get married, give my
love to Ancyl W. Robinson & family
and to put [????] & family and
to all my in quiring friends
and give my best respects to all
the girls in the Neighbourhood
that is all at presant
