Dear Father Mother and Brothers all
throug the kind providence of our maker
I once more embrace my self to address
you by the way of letter that
I can say to you that I am well
and in better helth at this time than I
have bin since I left home and I hope those
few lines may find you all enjoying
the same portion of the lords blessing
Henry is well as common but he dont
bair a good culor the rest of our boy
is doing as well as common we have
got back to our first old stompingground
but we dont expect to stay here long
they say we will go to Neworleans
they are looking for an attact their
mama me and hen got our clothing
hens uniform fit him very nice
mine is too small rather but I can
wair them hen ses ef you can send
him one more pair of pants he will be
glad for he hant got but one pair
of woorn ones besides his uniform as for
my self I have got plenty of close now

We have seen plenty of yank vesels
bit they was a long ways off from
us but we heard today that two
of them landed a bout five or six
miles on the other side of Ocean Springs
where we was and got provisions and fresh
water but it may not be so
I can say to you tho old John
: J: Lumpkin was here to day and made
us a very good speech he is a canadate
for a member of the congress he told
powerful tails what he would do
ef he was elected we are a pore set
down here we have never receved any
money yet and we are to not able to
buy our tobacco but the keep saying
they will pay us in a few days
