Dear wife and childran I
take the opportunity to drop you
a small not which leaves me
in health about like I was
when I left home and I
truly hope these lines will
find you all well at home
I landed at abingdon last
friday night and I come to
Emory & henry last night
I sheoed the Doctor my papers
and he said the Bord would met
next teow days I cant tell
whether I will get my furlow
extened or not you nead

I have no news pertickle onley
Longstreet has fell back to
Bristol so I will Close
for this time no more
only I remain your
