Biography: 

John Jimison (b. ca. 1824) was a farmer from near Rocky Mount, Franklin County, Virginia. Jimison enlisted as a private in Co. G, 37th Battalion Virginia Cavalry and was reported absent without leave in December 1864. He survived the war and resided on his Franklin County farm with his wife, Christina, and their six children. The family name is also spelled Jimmerson, Jimmison, and Jamison.
