November the 19 1861
Much respected friend
I take
my pen in hand this morning
to let you know that I am well
hoping those few lines may find
you in good health
i had the misfortune to lose one
of my gloves & i want you to
knit me another one if you please
and send it down soon as possible
a part of the Rigiment receive
there uniforms today they was
mustered in yesterdy
i havent time to write any more
at present because mister green
is going to carry some letters up
for me this morning and he is
waiting for me to write this
letter soon as i get my
uniform i expect to get my
picture taken and send it to
you i dont know whether i will
get to come home again or not
the talk is now we will leave here
before many weeks rolls round
so no more at present but still
remain your affectionate friend
