Much rspected friends
i sit
down this night to let
you know that i am well
hoping those lines may reach
and find you well i received
you letter last night
and was truely glad to hear
from you i havent much
to write you this time from
the fact that i have written
to you once this week but as
you disired me to answere your
letter immeadately to let you know
whether i have money enough
or not i thought i would drop
you a few lines i have
collected that money i loaned
and Thomas Peacock gave me
[page 2]
$1.50. besids .35 cts Clark
sent me Capt Slack
handed me that money Levi
sent me he gave me $5.00 i think
i will have enough money to
answer my purpose till i draw
so that i wont hafto use any
of the money Levi sent me
for i dont want to be
owing any person anything
for i want to have something
to help along
after the war is over
when i wrote home for money
i dident think that i would
get the money that i loaned
till the person made a draw
i havent anything more to add
at this time but still
remain your most
