much respected
i accept
the present opportunity of pening you a few
lines to let you know how i am getting
along and so here i am at present
time I am still at Lebanon Hospital
but I have got about well again
I have got so that I can go about over
town and I expect to go to my Ridg’t
in a few days I have not had any word from
the Ridg’t since they left this place
but i guess we can find them if we start
out I wrote you a letter on the 18th
of this month telling you my complaint
I have been gaining strength very fast
for the last 3 or 4 days I see Ridg’ts
every day returning from Sumerset I
saw Jeneral Thomas the other day he is
a pretty brave looking Jeneral he is a
tolerably old looking man they is 12 secesh
in one of our Hospitals they are those
that got wounded at the battle of Sumerset
they was also several reble prizinors passed
[page 2]
through this place that have enlisted
in our army hurrah for them we have
taken every Church and the Court house
besides several other rooms for hospitals
they is some twelve or 1500 sick
in this town 7 died yesterday but they
are none in our room that is dangerous
I suppose that you have
heard of our glorious victories of late
thank God we are taking every
thing clean as we go along the
stars and strips are floating all over
this state with the exception of
Columbas and I presume that they
will float there ere 3 weeks rolls round
I must close my letter for this time
in order to mail my letter this
morning befor the mail leaves
farewell for this time
asking you to write
often as convimint this from your
sincere friend
