This Testament Was picked up on the
battle field during the fight on the 3rd Inst Eddy
but in to Camp and Sends it to you for a Keep sake
from the Battle field I am much obliged for them
Socks they come in a mighty gode place for all
I had Was Wet and dirty When I got back tell
grandmother She had not be uneasy about me
wareing my uniform in battle for I have sent it
away but not because I was afraid to ware it in
battle I imagine I can hear gram Saying he
Wil be just fool enough to go in to battle in the
flashyest dress he can get did he not say so Em

Well I Would just as have go in that Way as any
for if a fellow is going to get Killed he Wil get it
any how So I think I Saw Officers in full dress
that Was in the thickest of the fight and got out Safe
