May the 4th well my Dear wife I
did not get my letter finished last night
in time to mail it and so I thought
I would rite a fiew lines more
I am all write this morning wee are
a going to have grand Review to
Day and I Expect wee will have to
march tomorow as it generaly is
the case a march after grand Review
I must now tell you of sad Accident
that happened here night Before last
all of the Citizens here that lives close
to where wee are camped has to have
one or two soldiers to guard there
property to Keep the rest from
steeling it one of those guards was
carlesly handling his gun and it went
of and shot him through the head the
Ball went in at his mouth and came
out at the Back of his head he was a
privat in the 147 Regt camped close
to us Our Orderly Sargent started
home yesterday he will get home to

unles you can send them with
him Theadore is seting Beside me
holding the ink Botle for me
Danel is riting some to send in
this letter you sayd you had sold
my dog if you can By a pig with
the money that you got for the dog I
