Summit Point Va May 19th
My Dear wife it is a gain that I
take my pen in hand to inform
you that I am stil Enjoying <???> [damage]
good health and I do hope that these
fiew lines may find you all enjoying
the same the Boys are all well here Except
Danel he is not very well this morning
he has got a very Bad Diareah But
that is something very common
the weather has Been very hot
for the last weak until last
evening wee had a thundershower
and it set in and rained nearly
all night and it is considerable
cooler this morning I have to go
out on Picket guard a gain to day
Danel and Theadore just got in last
nite I would have wrote to you yesterday
But Danel had my paper and portfolio

out on Picket with him I
have not got any thing new
to write this morning we are
stil at Summit Point and ther
is not as mutch likehoods of us going
away now as ther was some time a
go nor I cant tell any thing more
a bout going home I got a warsaw
paper last night it sayd they thought
that all of the Indiana Soldiers that
was alive would Be at home on the
4 of July and I hope they are But I
am Doubting it some what But
do think that we will all get home
some time During the summer
I have not Recd a leter from
you Sens one weak a go to night
that was a prety large one it gave
the particulars of the fight there
was another of our men
went home on furlough this

weak he lives at warsaw his name
is Walton Danel got a letter
from Rachel last night and I
Red it and it was a very good
one all She sayd a bout Sarah was
that she did not want Danel to give
any of the love or attention to her
She thought Belonged to Rachel and
cant see any thing wrong with the
request. I also hope that fuss will soon
Be Setled Old Jeff Davis has been
caught at last and when they took
him he was dresed in his wife's
clothes he will Be Brought to washington
to morrow and then they are going
to try him for murdering the
president and the greate probability
is that he will get to hang on that
Sower aple tree according to
the Song these will Be three
men hanged at Indianapolis to Day

now My Dear wife I have not got
time just now to write mutch
for I have to get my things ready
to go out on picket I have to take
all my things such as Blankets cate<??>
haversack napsack and clothing and [damage]
<three?> days Rations of hard tack and [damage]
sowbely I never was so tiered
of any thing in my life as I am
of hard tack and fat meat and Beans
Such is our Evry Day fare But I
hope we will get to go home in a
fiew months and then I want
a cup of tea and some Biscuit
if I only had Some good Bisket
now as there was laying in your
cubered the morning I left you I
think I would not walk from as
I did then without at least puting
some of them in my pocket and I
think I could Deposite some of them
some place Els too if I had the chance
now I must Bid you good By for
a short time nomore But I remain
your loveing hussband as Ever H Finton
to Marion Mats & Priscillia Finton

letter a sunday if nothing prevents me
