Dear and Beloved wife it is with
pleasure that I take my pen in
hand this morning to let you no that
I in tolerable good health and I hope
when this little Silent messenger comes
to your hand it may find you all in good
health and in good spirits I have not
got any thing new to write to you this
morning as I wrote you a tolerable large
letter last Sunday I have no news
from Danel or Theadore yet But
I guess Theodore will be Back this
Weak some time My Captain
offered to get a furlough for me
yesterday But he told me that
he had not the least Doubt But
what wee would Be Descharged in
side of Six weaks and it would

take a bout ten Days to ge a furlough
properly made out and it will
cost me 25 or 50 Dollars to go
home and Back I did not no what
to Do a bout it there has Been
So mutch talk of Being Discharged
that it has got Be an old story and
I did not no what I had Beter
Do a bout takeing a furlough and
I thought I would wat a while
and Se a little farther not But
what I would willingly Spend
25 Dollars to see you But if the
Regt is going home that soon
I could not mutch more than get
home and Back til I would
have to go Back Oh Dear
Wife I would like to Se you
and press your gentle forme to
my Bossim once more and I
am in strong hops it wont

I have not Recd a letter from you
sens Saturday But I am not very
impatient yet
I am Sory to inform you of the
Death of Joseph Bull he Died
last Monday Morning of typhoid
fever wee burried him in a nice
coffin with the honors of war

I think it is mutch more
solem than citizens Burying
the Band Plays a very mournful
Dirge as they march to the grave
he was a very Kind friend of mine
I do Depely simpathise with his
poor wife and children though
they may Be Ever So well off at
hom it is hard to have near and
Dear friends Die so far from
home he was a member of Co. K
I believe I must Bring my
little patch of seribling to a close
I keep in good least take good
care of your self and litle ones
and may by I will Be there to
help you after awhile good By
and a Kiss to you all and may
god Bless and protect you
from all harm
