John E. and Jeptha C. McFee Letters

Charles McFee (b. ca. 1806) and his wife, Sabra (b. ca. 1810), had a farm in the Hominy Creek section of Buncombe County, North Carolina with. Their sons, John Ervin McFee (b. ca. 1835) and Jeptha C. McFee (b. ca. 1838), served as privates in Co. E, 60th North Carolina Infantry. At the time of the 1860 census, John Ervin McFee and his wife, Sarah (b. ca. 1837), were living on their own farm and were parents of three young children. Jeptha C. McFee was still living in his parent’s household along with his eight brothers and sisters. John E. McFee died in late December 1862.
