Dear Sister Eliza we Received your kind Letter
by last mail which was sad news to us to
hear of the Death of our Best friends which
has Gone to the Land whence no Traviler
Returns But we soror not as those hoo have
no hope we exspect to Meet them in abetter
world then this Sister Pray for mos that
we may meet whear thear is no war no sorrow
no pain to afflict this bodey of ours this
unholy war has caused weeping in nearly
every hous from Texas to Georgia My loved
Brothers in Kaintucky has bin in severl
Battles sence we heard from them theay may
be ded I cant tell the Lord onley noes
Dear Sister the next time you hear from me
I may be in the Arma as the Last Call
takes me what will becom of them I leave them
in the hands of my master he will take Ceare
of the widow & the Alphins the Lord is thear
friend thies lines leave us all well I hope
theay will find you all well as to times in
this Country theay are tolable hard altho we have
anuf to Eat Both meet and Bread Bacon 25 cents per lb

Dear Sister is it posable that we have rec A
letter containing the Sad news of the death of your
dear companion and A dear Brother beging and no
one to go to him O that it had been in my power
to have assisted him in his wounds poor dear
Brother is gone yes gone forever but while we
are in troubel and greaf they are hapy in the clmes
of immortal glory but it is So hard to bear how
can we ever Stand it but lief is Short at
best and if we are prepard all will be well
lord help us to discharg our duty as cristian
and be prepaird to meet the in pease Dear Sister I
no your heart is all most redy to burst and
it is anough but I dont no how soon I will be
left if theair ever was A time when we ought
to live humble it is now for it is a trying
time with us I dont think this world will
Stand many years for the Scriptures tell
us that when all theese things come to pass that
we may no that the end is nigh if you ever do
hear any thing from Brother James do write imnediately
we have jest Saw a man from the Redgment
that 2 of Mr Robertsons Brothers is in and he
Sayes they are both well and are on theair way
to cumbeland gap I mst close by Saying you must
be shure and write to us poor dear little chil
dren I wish I could see you all theair has
been a good many deaths here of children but
the people are generly weel now we havet had
any Sickness in our famly this year of any consequenc so
