Dalton Ga Dec, 2nd 1863
Dear Mother
I am so as to be about but
not well I give out on the
march from Chattanuga I have
not been well Sinc I will
not write the particulars
of the fight for I reckon
you have heard them our
co only one man killed
and 5 wouned the killed was
D..W.. Spradlin wounded
W.W.. Stricklin. Tom, Miller.
Sergt Hear. John Walace.
Green Adamsone. all slight
wounds I was with the
boys in all the rounds
and came out unhurt
So I will not write any
more about it I want
you to Send me two
pair of yarn socks and
one pair of gallises and
if you have the chance

Send me a box of
provisions and send me
Some pepper if you send
a box & be sure to send
some dried fruit and
butter and alittle brandy
our rations now does verry
well we get beef flour
meal and potatoes and that
does verry well we hear that Uncle
P O Pittman has moved from
hear and I want you to write
where he has gone to and his
postoffice we had an election
to day for lieut and
Bob Tharp was elected
write as soon as you get
this for I have not heard
from you since the 25th of
Oct tell Melissa
Mary and Wm to write
and give me all the news
for I hear none hear
