Martin J. Davis Letters
Martin J. Davis (b. ca. 1846) was from Heard County, Georgia and served as a private in Co. K, 56th Georgia Infantry. At the time of the 1860 Federal Census he was living in the household of his widowed mother, Elizabeth (b. ca. 1822), along with seven brothers and sisters. Davis survived the war and in 1870 was living on his Heard County farm with his wife, Amanda.
