Dear wife i got your kind letter
of the 9 an i was glad to hear
from you an all the rest this
leaves me an henry well i am
glad to hear that John Welch
is a live yet for he was a good
soalder our boys sed tha Saw
him ded on the field as we come
out colen rites Regt had a figh
day before yestiddy an run the
yankeys he got five men killed
an he killed 28 yankeys an took
2 prisners i hear the cannons
roaring an tha have ben all day
but tha are onley buming the woods
i hope god will Spair me to
come home be fore i die i want
to see you all give my love to all
you must be good to my babys
for god bless them sweete little
thing i Still remain yours untell dath
