My Deare wife I got youre kind letter
of the 2nd inst and i was glad to heare from
you and all the rest it found me well and
when this comes to hand i hope it may
find you all well I have no news to
write to you at this time only W H L
got back on the 6th and he is all rite
I was glad of the things that you Sent to me
I eat them and thaught of you you dont
no how bad I want to see you all but
I am a fraid it will be a long time before
we see each other but I live in hops
if I die in dispair god will Provide for
us if we will obey his laws and I hope
you will do that give my love to all
of my folks and to youre Pa an ma
and tell them that I would like to be with
them to help them eat water melons
you must excuse this bad writeing for
it is Soon before breakefast and I cant
do eny better but you can readit it
I reacon you sed that you was sorry of
old lady Crawfords death I am sorry too
for I am a fraid that She was unprepaird

for Jeff Davis has cleard me he

A Diserter I told him that I dident

think that he could call that Dirsirting
I come through Safe an onley had to
pay half price I have got nothing
of importance to right give my love
to allthe folks an receive the Same
for your Self So nothing more for
