My Deare Wife I will write you
a few lins to let you no that I am
well and I hope this may find you
all this Same deare wife I got a letter
from you the other day but I was
on deauty and I did not have time to
write tell now you sed that Father
was Sick and wanted me to come
home tell him there is no chance
for me to come if I could come I
would do it for I want to see you
all the worst in the world I hope I
will get to see you all once more before
I die but the chance is bad but I
hope god will be with us and
remember us in much mercy
you wrote to me to no if I got
the paper that you sent to me

this is some of it deare wife I have
nothing new to write to you at
this time the yankees and our
men keeps bombarding yet
but tha dont do much at it
tell mother that I got the tobaco
that She sent to me I feel thank
full to her for it give my love
to all of the famley and tell them
that I want to see them all deare
wife I want you if you can
spair it to send me five dollars
in youre next letter for my
wages dont bye my Paper and
tobacco and the tobacco I have to
do with out dont send it if you
cant Spair it I will close by saying
I remain as ever youre love
