Nove 10th 1863
Deare wife I will drop you
a few lins to let you no that
I received yourse of 4th inst
wich was long looked for and
I was glad to heare that you
all was well I am well
and I hope this may find you
the same my deare you sed
that you wanted to no
what had got the matter with
me and hinry nothing is
the matter with us only we

cant agree on an argament
one day he sed that he had
reather be in old va than
to be on James Island and I
sed when I heare men
tolk that way I jest set it
down that tha node nothing
a bout fighting yankees
and he sed he was jest as
willing to fight as I
was and I told him
that he had not proved
it for he allways had to
have a old wagon to drive

and it made him mad but
jest what I sed is so for
he was crazy untell he got
to drive a wagon he is
driveing one now and he
entendes to keep out of all
fighting the balance of the
war if he can and I dont
blame him for yankee
bullets dont feel good
for I have tride it three
times and expect to tsee
them a good meny times
yet before the war ends

Welch told me that the
baby was pretty an it
made me want to go home
I will close by saying give my
love to all and tell them
that I want to see them
