Baldwin Fla March 30th 1864
My Dear wife I will drop you a few lines to let you no that
I received youre kind letter last nite an was gld to heare from
you for it was the first letter that I had got from you sence I
left it found me well as could beexpected considering the harde
work that I have don sence I got to camps I hope this may
find you all well an doing well you Spoke of dennis in
youre address he is ded he died on the 24th inst at Lake City I
hope he is better off than being in this war I was glad to
heare that the Small Pox was geting better for I was a fraid
that you all would get them but I hope you will not I
dont have much news to write to you as I have wrote
2 letters to you an three to mother an Father before this
one you can tell babe that I have wrote to her long a go
an did not Pay the Postage on the letter but I Put fifty cts
in it an I Sent you an hester fifty cts a Peas and I wan[t]
you all to write to me So that I can heare from you all we
have some verry windy weather an I dont like that unless
I was in a house all of the boys are doing fine for tha
kill from 8 to 10 hogs a day Ed has kill one to
day or last nite rether.. he is in my mess an he keeps
us in fresh Swine you must direct youre Letters to Baldwin
Florida there is a Post office down here but I did not no it
tell the other day I will have to close soon for the wind
blows untell I cant write with any Sadisfaction I
wish that I was at home with you but I feel jest like that [I no?]

had no home on eirth it dont Seam like a home to me
it Seames like a Place to Stay at I feel like my home is
in heaven and I shall die with that hope and I hope that
we may all reach that home I will Come to a close
