Mattie My Friend and Little wife I will
address you this morning with a few lins to
in form you that I am well and I do
hope this may come Safe to hand and find
you and all the famley in the best of
health Dear Wife I have some news to
write to you old Earley has got a licking
up in the Valley he lost 12 cannons and
I dont no how meney men I have not
heard the perticlers of the fight I think
we will starte to the valley soon and
if Hokes Division goes up there the yanks
will have to Skedaddle I would like it
better if we all had blankets if we go up
there with out any Blankets we will
freeze to death but if we go it will be
nothing new to colquetts brigade for
we have ben all a long there times is
harde out heare it use to take a
Regment to tote one companys
rashens and now fore men can
