Dear wife it is with plesure that
I tke my pen in hand to in form
you tha I am well and doing very
well Considerin everthing I hope these
fiew lines will come safe to hand and
find you all well and doing well I
recievd your letters in due time
and was glad to her from you all
for I was afrade that I would have to
start out whar I cold not get a letter
before I did hear from you you rott to
me to rite oftin it is hardly worth
whill for me to rite after I leave hear
for wen we leave hear we will go
futher in to yankadom to whar letters
Cannot pass much tho I will
rite evry Chance that I Can get
and you must rite as of tan as you
can and direct your letters to
knoxvill and maby I will get som
of them you rote that you herd
that James hifill [1] was dead but it
is not so we have marched a goodeel
and we ar agoin to start in the morning
a gain and I think we will find

14 I never was so glad to receive a letter

chance to rite you must all do the best

same and cum home as soon as i can
