december the 13 1862
Dear wife I take my seat this
morning to drop you a fiew
lines to let you no that I am
well hoping thes fiew lines
may find you all well I recievd
my Close at Manchester and rote a letter
to you but did not get it maled til
yestoday I sent it to chattanooga
we got our male this morning but
thar was nothing for me we ar in 12
miles of murfies burough and we
dont no whar we will go next I wold
like to har f[r]om you oftin thar is a grate
many of our rigtment a running a way
but I dont want to go to sea you
in a way that you wold not
want to sea me I dont want to fix
my self so tha I cannot sea any
more pease of my life I think
that pese will be made in two
or three months nad [1] we will git
to go home rite Jorge Fowlar got
a letter from home the other day and
it stated that bengamon elexander
saw you all and you was well

that he is well tell frank voyleses [2]
wife that he is well
so I will Close
tell M B Mangum to stay at
home as long as he can for I dont
think that wading though the mud
and leying on the sno will suit
him this is a colde Cuntry
rite oftain and maby I will get
sum of them I wll frank my
letters and they will be apter to
go so I will C[l]ose do the best
you can til I can cum home
So nothing more at presant
but remains your husban til
death so far well for this
time
