Dalton Ga Feb the 20 1864
Dear Companion with pleasure I
take my pen in hand this eavning
to direct a fiew words to you and by
reading those lines you will find
that I am well and doing as well as
Common I have nothing very
important to write at this time
we have drawn our goverment suit
and we have got a box ready to start
home and will start it a Monday
if nothing happens I put in my old
coat and par of pants one par of drawers
and a par of no 6 shooes for you to war
and my old shooes you can have them
half soled for Jain to plow in and
I sent you my new blanket for it
is too hevy to cary in hot weather
you can wash it and keep it for me
wold not take 25 dollars for it if it
is dirty that dont hurt it i no for
i have tried it when we start
the box we will send you letters
and Sam will send uncle Brooks
the receipt and direct the box to
him

W. C. Gunter put in two
Coats and his Cumfort is in the
Coat pocket you can you can take them and
gave them to his mother the close
is all marked with a pensil on
the lining to morrow is
my day to get a letter and I hope i
will get one as i may har from you
all and hear how fother is getting
this is the 20 and I hope you will
recievd it the 25 and you will
if it gos in time as it aught
rite oftain as i may hear from you
so I must Close no more but remain
