Resacea Ga April the 3 1864
Dear Companion I avail this oppertunity
of writing you a fiew lines through which I am
enabled by the help of our god to inform you
that I am well hoping those fiew lines
may reach your hands in due time and find
you well and doing well I was truly sorry
to hear that you was not well tho I hope
you will ba enabled to record in your next
letter that you ar all well for it almost
brakes up the strongest vitals of my hart
to hear of your trouble for your well far is
my wish and will you rote for me to write
to you what we got to eat we get corse corn
meal and a little pore beef I have no ide thar
is a cow or calf at your hous but wat wold
make better beef than we get to eat if thar
is you will loos them we get a bout one
mel of it evry too days and two meals
of bread a day but all this I cold put up
with if i Just node that you was
faring well or if I was with you and
my folks I cold live on bread and water
and live happy but if I can out live
this war and find you all alive at home
I will be thankful but gods will dun and
not mine

we will draw for furlows a bout this day week
I hope it will fal to my lot if it dus
you augh to see one proud boy tho I fear
I will not get it so I have to bea easy
I recievd your kind letter of the 30 and
was glad to get it and hear from you
you nead not hear that I will suffer for
clothing for I go out on gard and take my
blanket with me and li down and put
the blanket under my head and sleep
as warm as you pleas
I was with you last night in a vision
I hope i wil bear with you in person
Som day tel mary that I wish her
much Joy wi[t]h hir two girls and too boys
tel T. C and E. L Catlett that I
will mak them a ring a pease and they
must not lindy take the baby of[f]
til I can cum and see it
I will rite your mother a letter tomarrow
So I will Close without it was better
