Resacea Ga April the 15 1864
Dear Companion I will take this opptunity
of droping you a fiew lines to let you no
that I am well and doing tolerble well
I recievd your kind letter of the 10 and
was glad to hear from you and to hear that
you was all upon foot tho was sorry
to no that you was looking for me to
cum home and I Cannot get to cum when
I no that you ar looking for me I want to
cum then worse than ever if posible
our reinlisted furlows ar gon up for the
presant tho we ar aloud thirty days in
a year ten at a time I am goin to get a furlow
as soon as i can for i want to cum home
worse than I ever did in my life
tho I have to puffit of[f] the best I can and
cum when I can may the time soon cum when
I will bea deliverd from this unfrendly
war and can cum home and live in pease with you
which is the grand desire of my hart
we ar going to start back to dalton
in the morning our relief is hear now
I hate to start the other way but I must
go direct your letters to Dalton
as you did before

to our brigade
you must write soon and oftain you said
that you wold like to have som of my god
paper I will send you a nuf to rite a letter
tho it will bea spoiled I expect if I cold
cum home I wold fetch you a qire [1] but it is
not none to me when I will get to cum
tho I will try seven year or get a furlow
if I shold live so I will close
nomore but remains yours truly
til death

I want to hear from M B as soon as
I can as I may no whether he got any
thing dun with his wen or not
so far well dear friends for
