Kind and loving Companion I again seat
my self to addres you by letter as it is
all the way I can converse with you I have
Just recievd a kind letter from you and mother
dated April the 18 which was thankfuly recievd
and Carfuly perused by me as well as others
in the Co it gave me grate satisfaction for i
was waiting with an anxious heart to hear
from my brouter I am a fraid he will have
a bad time tho I hope not i think he has
dun the best thing he cold for him Self
I wold like extremley well to sea him and
spend a week with him in his retierd condition
tho it is out of my power at this time or I
wold have bin to sea you long ago I am
sorry that you had bin looking for me
to cum home when I cannot get to cum furlows
is entirely gon up for a while it apearses [1]
my hart to a grate extent tho I have it to bar
you rote that you had heard that a fight was
expected hear and at richmon i think it will
bea a fante [2] hear or thar one we hear no fresh 
nues of a fight hear tho it may cum on
before a grate while but i cannot tell

thar is a kind protector to restle with the
north in the heat of battle as well as by the
fire side I must say somthing to you
a bout our good meetings we have meeting
evry day and such you never saw if you
cold just bea at one of our brigade meetings
you wol think that men was tring to do
better numbers ar being baptized and thir
names encribed
we have retierd to our old camps again
we saw a fine time at resaccor [3] we staid 
thar 5 weeks I will say somthing
a bout our far we ar faring much better
than we have bin we got bacon and meal
anuf to do tolerable well tho I dont
think it can last long so I will Close
by saying I am well and harty hoping those
fiew lines will reach you in due time and find
you well and doing well pleas excuse my
bad Wrote and composed letter yours
