 Dear wife I again try to rite  
 you a line to let you no that  
 I am yet a live and well tho  
 I have had a ruf time for the  
 last week  it has bin raning  
 ever since may and it has bin  
 a auful time to Cook  I havent  
 bin dry in a week til last  
 night  I think it is goin to clear  
 off  you wold say that it wold  
 kil us but we can take it like a  
 hog an not hurt us  the fight  
 is stil goin on  our men have bin  
 holding thir ground for som time  
 tho I cannot tel how long they  
 will hold it  i think that they  
 will have to fal back to chattahooch  
 river be fore long  our Captain got  
 wonded yestoday  thar is but fiew  
 killed or wonded for the time  
 tho I do not no what will bea
