Camp McDonald June 14th 1861
Dear Eliz
In verry great hast I seat
my self to drop you a line
informing you that I am tol-
erable well at present I was
verry much fatigued when I got
here and am some what so still
several of our boys have ben sick
and I have ben detailed to the hospital
nurs they are all out of the hos-
pital now Oon [1] (Adair) [2] is verry
sick at the hotel at big Shan-
ty and I should not be surprise
if he dies I was detailed to
stay with him last night he
was out of his senses all night
Our Camp is so much confus
ed now that I cannot write
any Newse about our trip [??]

Our camp is compleetly
dis organised the officers
could not parade men enough
this morning to relieve the
guards who were on duty last
night the caus is this Gov Brown
came up here yesterday to muster us
in to service in sted of keeping
hi[s] pledg to muste us in for 9 months
if he could he sayes we shall go
in for the war if we go in the
service of the Confederacy Pro-
claimed marshal law for two
miles around Camp disperced
the grog shpes and assumed other
authority which it is said he had
no right to do the consequense
was a compleet burst

every company in camp packed
up to leave this morning Colonel
Wofford Called us to gether and
pledged himself for our rations if
we would stay until he could go
to Atlanta and see Brown and
try to make some arrangement about
the matter he dirrcted us to obey
no order from Brown until he
directed other wise We have
news that 5000 yankees have
landed nea savannah we
intend if the report be true to
start for savannah to morow if
not we may go to verginia
Wofford proposes to make a
regiment our side of camp it is
uncertain wher I will take dinner
to morow we hav plenty to eat
