Nov 16th 1862
Dear Brother this leaves us all well Ma’s family was all well
Tuesday morning I have not got much of interest to write Ma’s hands
work tolerable well when they have regular work they never would dodge and
do much without some white man Ma tryes to take her truble the
best she can she dont look cowed much she measured her wagon boddy last
week it checked out 25 bushels she made 1000,50, bushels of corn I made 300,75
she has her stock hogs and her fatning hogs seperated her fatning hogs in a
peafield she wants to know which you rather have some meal or potatoes
her potatoes turned out tolerable well mine turned out very well
I got a letter from J M last monday he was not well he is at Camp
Winder Hosptal 2nd division 42nd ward the Doctor treats his case
for Rheumatism of the back he did not write like he was dangerous
he wants to hear from you very bad he writes in my letter for me
to write about you where you are and how you have been
you back a letter to him as follows Private J M Pound Richmond Va
Camps Winder Hospital 2nd Division 42nd Ward you must write
to him I know he would be glad to hear from you he has not
been exchanged yet as he knows off you must excuse this letter
and hand write as I have been writeing to him all day
I am tied down you must write soon nothing more only
I remain as ever your affectionate sister M A Pound
