Dear parents I to night
seat myself to drop you
a fiew lines I hav bin
writing to you evry feu days
but I was a uneasy for
fear you would not get
them I am going to send
this by Mr. R. Th. gun he
is going to start in the
morning I am well
and I hope that these feu
lines will reach and finde
you all enjoying the sam
blessing I have no nuse
of importanc to write
I hav bin hearing canons
all day the direction
of fredricburg I suppose
they ar [???]ing it is
uncertain a bout our staying
hear long for we hav orders
to ceap seven days ration
ready on other I want you to
prepair me a short coat
and hav it ready Roberts
will [?]o mee if you will
make it [???] will fit nise

of bad weather it is cloudy
