Camp stoks near greensboro

Dear father and mother
and sisters I take my pen in
hand this morning to write
yo a few lines in ansuer to your
of the 15 which came to hand in
due time I was glad to hear from
yo all and to hear yo was all well
I dont know that I hav eny thing
to write to yo that would interest
yo at this time tho there is a grat
el of talk about pease the talk is
that pease will be maid in a
short time Som say tell the
4 of march Som say aprile
but be that as it may I cant
tell how it will be. the nuse is
in the papers that the wite flags
up at Richmon and peters
burg on both sids and too
men is gon to shermons army
to call an armestic of 90 days
if that is don the opinion of
the pepel is there will be no more

fighting I only hop that
may be the case i cant tell yo when
I will get to come home I tride
for a furlow last friday but
hav got non yet I cant tell
when I will yo wanted to
know how my money was
holding out I hav $44 dolars and
50 cts yet I have not drew eny
money yet neither do I expect
to draw eny I received aleter
from Wm S B last week which
in formed me he was not
very stout he Said he was on
a short detail about the city but
did not say what he was
doing I forgot to tell yo I hav
got back to camp Stoks I was 7 days
and nights on gard in succession
at greensboro So no more but
remains your Son and brother
