Jan the 26 1862 Raleigh NC
Dear Wife
it is gods cind blessing
that I resume this presant opertunity
to grasp my pen in hand to
inform you that I am well
at pres ant and I hope when
those few lines comes to hand
that tha may find you well and
little Ladema well and all my friends
well I would be glad to se you
but I dont know when I will
get to come home but if nothing
happens I think I will get to come
home when John comes he is on
his head to go home in Febuary
to I exspect you know what
he says he is bound to go home
then war or no war and if he
dose then you will get your
sissey to live with you untill
we all get back from this war
if it is gods will fur us to get
back to our native homes a gain
nuse came in to our camps this
morning that we had to leave here
before long but I will not beleave
it untill I se it
Dear Wife it would do me good
if you would write to me I have
long loked fur a letter from you
my Dear and have not seen one
sence I left home if you have wrote

has not reached me write to me

want to hear from you I must
close my letter by saying write
