Jonas A. Bradshaw Papers

Jonas N. Bradshaw (b. ca. 1835) was a farmer from Alexander County, North Carolina. He served as a sergeant in the "Rocky Face Rangers," Co. G, 38th North Carolina Infantry. Bradshaw’s brother, John S. Bradshaw (b. ca. 1841) served as a private in the same company. Most of Jonas Bradshaw’s letters are written to his wife, Nancy J. Bradshaw (b. ca. 1841). According the 1860 census, Jonas and Nancy Bradshaw had a one-year-old daughter, Mary E. Bradshaw. Jonas Bradshaw was wounded and captured at Gettysburg and died at Point Lookout prison camp in August 1864.
